ISCTE, the University Institute of Lisboa
Established in 1972, the Institute has over 94 nationalities represented and actively contributes to the development of two major domains: education and scientific research, thereby fostering a community of diverse students and a pluralistic and multidisciplinary approach to teaching. It is thus one of the most attended and innovative universities in the country, renowned for its significant contributions to scientific advancement.
In 2005, a non-profit organization was established at the institute - AUDAX - whose main activities focus on entrepreneurship, incubation, youth entrepreneurship, education and social entrepreneurship. To date, Audax-ISCTE has inspired 23.491 people, educated 15.715 and developed 155 consultancy projects.
In 2021, the construction of a new facility, ISCTE Knowledge and Innovation, began to accommodate the Center for Valorization and Technology Transfer (CVTT), a robust research structure comprising ten laboratories, three observatories, and eight scientific research centers.
From 1979 to 2000, there was substantial growth with the establishment of various research centers such as the Center for Contemporary Portuguese History Studies (CEHPC) and the Center for Studies on Socioeconomic Change (DINAMIA), promoting and contributing to the modernization and development of portuguese universities.
